Queen Idia Necklace
Our Idia necklace, named after Queen Idia , mother of Esigie, the Oba of Benin (in present day Nigeria) who ruled from 1504 to 1550, celebrates the richness of the Edo-Benin people and its culture.
This necklace features a pendant which is a figure wearing a gele (which means head-tie or headwrap in Yoruba) synonymous with various African peoples, and a simple woven gold chain.
This necklace is a bestseller and we can see why as it is a tasteful homage to the contemporary love and popularity of headwraps within the African Diaspora around the world. This necklace is ideal for lovers of Afrocentric jewellery. It is timeless staple in any diasporic babe's collection.
Material: pendant: gold plated on copper alloy
chain: tarnish resistant stainless steel plated in 18ct gold
Dimensions: 4cm in length and chain: 50cm
It’s beautiful and it goes so well with my overall style! Your service is always impeccable
Looks beautiful on, had a few compliments when worn. The price is very good and looks alot more expensive. Hope it doesn't tarnish... so far so good when worn with care... perfume, lotion wise.
I got this necklace just a few weeks ago and it is beautiful. It glistens. Customer service was incredible and it arrived in a timely manner. I have so far avoided contact with water but it will be great to know how it does once it come into contact with water. But overall great product and will shop with the company again.
Pretty necklace , nice and bold
